Lee will be honored on October 13th...President Obama will welcome President Lee Myung-bak of the Republic of Korea to the White House on October 13th for an an official State Visit, the fifth of the Administration, Press Secretary Jay Carney announced late Tuesday. After a day filled with pomp and circumstance as well as meetings, President Obama and First Lady Obama will host President Lee and Mrs. Kim for an official State Dinner. The formal affair is also the fifth such event of President Obama's administration.

(Above: The Presidents at the Blue House)"This visit will highlight the strong alliance, the global partnership, and the deep economic ties between the United States and the Republic of Korea. The visit will also celebrate the strong bonds of friendship between the American and Korean people," Carney said.
The two leaders are "expected to discuss a broad range of economic and security issues and review the progress made in connection with the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement and the 2009 U.S.-Korea Joint Vision Statement for the Alliance," Carney said.
German Chencellor Angela Merkel was the last world leader honored by President Obama with an official visit and a State Dinner.
