President Obama will welcome the leaders of the European Union to a summit and luncheon at the White House today. At 11:45 AM, he will meet with European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, and High Council Representative Catherine Ashton in the Roosevelt Room. After, at 12:30 PM, the President will host "an EU summit lunch" in the Cabinet Room,. Both are closed to press. The President and the EU leaders will discuss "the global economy; our efforts to strengthen economic ties and growth; our joint work to support democracy and prosperity in the European neighborhood, across the Middle East and North Africa, and in other regions; our continuing coordination on Iran; and our commitment to improved transatlantic law enforcement and counterterrorism cooperation," the White House said.
After the luncheon, at 1:40 PM in the Roosevelt Room, President Obama, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, and European Commission President José Manuel Barroso will deliver statements to the press.
