The White House has released the only official photo of President Obama taken on his 50th birthday on Thursday, August 4th. The image shows the President meeting with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in the Oval Office, and was Photo of the Day today on the official White House blog.The President's birthday week saw the completion of the debt-ceiling deal with Congress, and today, a downgrade of America's credit rating from triple A to AA+ by credit agency Standard & Poor's. The US stock market plummeted by more than 500 points before closing.
The only event noted on the President's daily schedule for August 4th was a 10:30 AM Presidential Daily Briefing; a press lid was called at 4:00 PM. By 5:00 PM, guests were arriving at the White House for the President's closed-press "casual" but "fabulous" birthday party in the Rose Garden and East Room; exclusive details from inside the event were posted here at Obama Foodorama. No photos were released from the party.
