President will keynote conference for US's largest Latino civil rights/advocacy organization...UPDATE: The President's speech is here
On Monday July 25th, President Obama will give the keynote address at the National Council of La Raza's Annual Conference, the White House announced. President Obama will make his remarks during a luncheon in Washington, DC, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. NCLR is the largest national Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in America, and more than 25,000 participants are expected at the conference between July 23rd through 26th. President Obama's most recent foodie outing with the Latino community was settling a sports bet with a reporter from Univision Miami’s Channel 23. The President sent a box of Chicago Hot Dogs to the station, and it made the nightly newscast.
When announcing the President's La Raza lunchtime appearance, the White House noted that the President’s keynote address comes just two weeks after the White House hosted a Hispanic Policy Conference that brought together 160 community leaders and local elected officials from 25 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia, with more than 100 White House and Cabinet officials for "an in-depth series of interactive workshops and substantive conversations on the Administration’s efforts as they relate to the Hispanic community."
